All About Pimped Out Cars
People have been driving pimped out cars for decades although they used to be referred to as hot rods or custom cars. A pimped out car can be anything from a small economy car to the latest in limousines that has been altered to look far more unique than the original manufacturer intended. For many people driving a car that looks just like any other on the road simply will not do, they feel the need to create their own work of art on four wheels.
Other choose to go with pimpedout cars as a way of flaunting their wealth, for example the term pimped out comes from the era when many “pimps” would by big Cadillacs and Lincolns then have them completely customized with exotic paint jobs and gold plating on everything. Each pimped ride was a way of letting everyone know who had the money in town and was in control of the neighborhood. Later the gang leaders in various cities began to follow suit creating rolling art with the money they were taking in.
Today the younger generation is creating its own version of pimpedout cars, taking the time and effort to create unique cars that are just as much about go as they are show. Factory engines are being replaced with high tech power houses that smoke the tires at every red light and pass everything on the street except the gas pumps. Under the hood often looks more like the inside of a modern aircraft instead of a car with miles of wiring and chrome. Turbochargers and superchargers all add to the power and glory.
Lowered cars have always been a favorite amongst pimpedout cars and their owners at one time it was enough to lower the ride height a few inches and put wide tires under the car. Today hydraulic suspensions and tires with almost no sidewall on huge rims is more the norm. An owner can raise the car to driving height at the press of a button or lower it down to the point where it is almost touching the ground.
From exotic paint jobs to custom interiors with stereo systems that are louder and better than most of us have at home, pimped out cars are a very popular way for car owners to express their personality. Some people do it for personal pleasure, while others like to show off either their creativity or the amount of money they have, either way the cars they create are definitely works of art on four wheels.
